I’m a stream of consciousness writer, so I don’t go into these articles with a locked down (an ugly term these days for sure) rigid idea of what they will turn out to be.
I pick topic that I think people will be interested in whether it’s a contemporary subject to our times or something more historic and timeless. All I hope is that what I’m writing about will be something that I hope you folks will read, enjoy, and ponder.
It also needs to be interesting to me as well, because the quality of the writing wouldn’t be very good if I wasn’t into what I was writing about.
That said, I do know that narcissism is such a broad subject that I don’t want to “contain” it in one article, so it’ll be an open-ended series.
But first a disclaimer; I don’t claim to be nor am I an expert in this field. This is just my opinion, so take it all with a grain of salt.
Today, I want to touch on egoism vs. narcissism.
And we have no better examples for both than our previous two Presidents.
Note: I don’t count what some consider the supposed “current” one because he’s illegitimate, but that’s a subject for another time…
Donald Trump is someone I consider an egotist.
Barack Obama is someone I consider a narcissist.
The difference between these two men is that Donald Trump isn’t 100% out for himself looking for constant obedience in total whereas Obama is.
Now I’m sure that many will read that first statement and say “Come on. Trump has always been about himself! I mean his name is on every one of his hotels and golf courses. Isn’t that narcissistic?”
Actually no, it isn’t.
It’s egotistical, yes, but not narcissistic. But in reality, it’s no different from anyone else who’s established themselves as a brand name. That doesn’t necessarily mean that just because someone puts themselves out there as a brand that they’re inherently a bad person.
You didn’t build that?
Here’s the stark difference between these two men:
Obama’s cluelessness making the statement “Somebody else made that happen.” is a mind bending stretch to try and create the illusion that without the infrastructure in our society that “You didn’t build that.”
Whereas Donald Trump has his name emblazoned on several properties, that yes, he built.
The difference?
Well, whether you agree with Obama’s inane take that “you didn’t create that”, Donald Trump sure has created a hell of a lot more than Obama ever has and would in a million lifetimes given Obama’s propensity to be a taker rather than a doer.
Obama tries to make the case that without public infrastructure, nobody would be able to build anything.
That’s patently absurd.
Get a job!
It’s the same mindset of unfortunately way too many politicians from town and city councils ranging all the way up to the presidency and senate of many who literally have never held a job in the private sector in their lives.
Both of these lunatics are US Senators and neither one has done a damn thing for their respective states.
Nothing.
But they’re both very wealthy…
America First
Look at the results of both presidencies: under Obama there was economic turmoil and the beginnings of hatred and division not seen in this country probably since the Civil War. Under Trump, there were obviously divisions that deepened but that can easily be attributed to the media and the never ending shortage of sleazy politicians (on both sides of the political aisle) who had a lot at stake to lose with what Trump was doing while President.
He followed through with virtually everything he said he would do.
Read that list then look at what’s happening right now in America. You don’t need to be a Trump supporter to see the difference.
This one should be very evident to everyone:
The average American family saved $2,500 a year in lower electric bills and lower prices at the gas pump.
The other differences were major between him and Obama as well.
Donald Trump is actually telling the truth when he says “America First” and that doesn’t sit well with those who don’t exactly agree with that mindset.
Love him, like him, despise him, or hate him, there’s no pretense with who Donald Trump is where Obama to me is nothing more than a carefully groomed, manufactured plant whose whole existence is to carry out a predisposed globalist agenda.
In fact, the opposite is true where in Trump’s case, if he were such a narcissist, then he wouldn’t have put himself through what he did because the most important thing to him would be his reputation.
Donald Trump didn’t need to put himself through this for his own personal gratification, as he’s said many times, he could have just walked away and lived a nice life.
But he didn’t.
I firmly believe that Trump loves this country and what it stands for where Obama believes in and stands for nothing but the globalist agenda which rewards (actually entraps is a better word) a few and destroys many.
A Finer Point
Narcissists want, need, and more than anything, they demand adoration and fealty.
Egotists want accolades and recognition.
There’s a huge difference between the two.
There’s a difference between being (or trying to be) a dictator and a leader.
My experience with working with both types at the same time was very a educational (to put it politely) experience for me. Working for a malignant narcissist was extremely unpleasant, and conversely working for a leader was fantastic.
This for perspective was at the same time for the same company.
The leader managed everyone from the top down but they let people do what they do best without interference, but expected results. How you got them was up to you, but you had to deliver.
The narcissist, micromanaged everything and everyone. Pitting some against others and talking crap about everyone else. The narcissist was constantly complaining about and ridiculing everyone in the company (all the way up to and including the CEO) unless you were worshiping them.
Narcissists need worship and adoration while leaders want results that they can hang their hat on.
Would you rather work for Donald Trump or these insidious creeps?
Barack Obama
Anthony Fauci
Bill Gates
Hillary Clinton
You get the picture. I hope.
Egotists want to beat you and do better than you.
Narcissists want to defeat you and humiliate you.
There are those who want to be remembered and make a mark in history for the betterment of all. Then there are those who choose to make a mark for all the wrong reasons.
Think scars versus ingrained principles.
There’ll be plenty more on this in future articles…
I love this! I was married to a malignant narcissist and barely managed to escape. Excellent description of the differences.
This draws an incredibly apt distinction between the two types. Looking forward to the next one! Great job, love your writing style, very clear minded, unmuddled, and understandable. Kudos!!
